John counsels and coaches adults of all ages on adult development and self-improvement and personal and workplace skills development. John has a unique set of skills, experience and expertise on coaching at the intersection of work and personal life. He is especially effective with families and multi-generational families who have businesses around the love, power, money, relationships, complexities they face. Assisting family members understand and excel within these complex dynamics is familiar territory for John. Part of his practice focuses on issues of the second half of life. We often live the first half of our life with the personality and values that were given to us. Mid-life and the second half of our life provides a unique opportunity to discover and shape our own personality, choose the values we wish to live this half by, and to find deeper meaning and fulfillment in our work and our personal life. I will assist you in these activities along with facing the changes, challenges and opportunities that normally bring people to me. My goal is to make your life richer and more fulfilling chapter after chapter after chapter. For over ten years he taught the popular televideo seminar "The 5 Rs of Successful Retirement" to Boeing Employees. Because so many of those attending have gone on to create several more meaningful chapters in their lives the seminar was renamed "Life by Design: Making the Next Chapter the Best Chapter" a few years ago.
John also provides "next chapter" coaching for people in all sorts of planned and unplanned transitions. Individually, as a couple, or in a group here are some of the benefits of next chapter, retirement and second half coaching.
Increasingly our work life and home life impact each other. I provide expert coaching with couples and families around major life changes, illnesses, transitions and challenges.
John works with clients around a wide range of concerns and has special expertise around transitions and changes, personal and work relations and in skills development. He draws upon additional advanced training in conflict resolution and mediation and both personal-focused and corporate-focused coaching training to help clients and families be more successful in both their personal and their work lives. He draws on all of the above plus years of advanced study as a behavioral scientist through the Family Firm Institute in working with the family side of family business.
John views life as a classroom where we can grow stronger and wiser if we learn from our own experiences and from others. He especially likes to help clients develop the skills to function more effectively and enjoyably in complex personal and work life settings.
Finally, John likes to form a working partnership with you. He can describe what and why he does what he does. He helps clients come to understand themselves and others better and the dynamics of people interacting. Clients end up becoming much more conscious, intentional and effective in their communications and relationships.
